| EXAMINATIONS / CHECK-UPS |
|
Once your emergency dental needs are taken care of, we always recommend a New Comprehensive Patient Examination to be booked. This appointment involves complete examination of the teeth and surrounding tissues, a scaling and polishing, xrays, charting of the treatment plan, a consultation and discussion of the treatment plan and the costs involved. Once this examination is completed, you will be well informed about your dental health status and the next appointments can be subsequently planned to suit your needs.
At M Dental, we strongly encourage our patients to regularly undergo an examination. It is very important to have your teeth and mouth checked twice a year, we highly recommend six monthly visits as a lot can change in the mouth over a short period of time. There are many health problems and diseases that have signs which can present in the mouth. Our dentist can identify these signs and any other problems that may be evident and advise preventative treatment to avoid a much bigger problem in the future. A smaller problem now is much easier to treat than a larger one, and in most cases is less time consuming and costly.

| AMALGAM FREE RESTORATIONS |
|
While there is a lot of controversy about amalgam fillings and many authorities claim it is safe, we never use amalgam in our practice, but we do remove it! If you have old amalgams that need replacing, feel rest-assured here at M Dental as we have high-powered suctions capable of absorbing mercury vapor released from the removal of amalgam fillings. We also have a very eco-friendly system in place for safe amalgam separation and disposal.
Because of this, here at M Dental, we only offer tooth-coloured restorations. A range of shades are available to match the colour of your teeth.
We do composites (white fillings), CEREC Ceramics (see below) as well as Bridges, Dentures/Partial Plates and more. |

| CEREC RESTORATIONS |
|
Want strong, beautiful and natural-looking teeth? You now have the perfect choice with our Cerec Ceramic teeth!
We have the latest CAD-CAM technology for that perfect ceramic restoration |
Our new on-site furnace allows us to complete your life-like restoration in the one appointment |
These long lasting and durable restorations can be created in the one appointment – no need for bothersome temporary crowns! These ceramic restorations can be made into crowns, veneers or fillings (in-lays/on-lays) and help protect and preserve your own tooth’s structural integrity.
Crowns are used when a tooth is no longer strong enough to function without breaking. This could be due to heavy restoration, weakening due to a Root Canal Treatment or cracking of a tooth due to a traumatic event. Crowns are also useful in cosmetic dentistry when teeth are discoloured, malformed, or wrongly positioned.
A veneer is a ceramic front fitting over an existing tooth (like false nails) – suitable for the front ten upper and lower teeth. It is a permanent solution for a desired cosmetic effect. Veneers are particularly well suited to discoloured or crooked teeth. Veneers can be used to lengthen teeth, close gaps, and improve the orientation of teeth.
Ceramics are bio-compatible and longer-lasting than other available restorative materials. They offer excellent comfort and looks and are unquestionably the most cost effective restoration available today.

| BRIDGES / DENTURES & PARTIAL PLATES / MOUTHGUARDS |
|
Bridges replace missing teeth by utilizing the two teeth on either side as support. Because the bridge is permanently attached, it also strengthens the supporting teeth. The procedure can be done in two appointments and can sometimes be an alternative to dental implants.
Removable partial dentures and complete dentures are other alternative treatment solutions for missing teeth. However if you have a full denture, you are recommended to get it relined approximately every 5 years to ensure a better fit and comfort to the underlying tissues.
Mouthguards and custom fitting trays are also available. Please ask one of our friendly staff for more details. |

| EXTRACTIONS |
|
At M Dental we do our best to help keep your natural teeth. However there are occasions where this is not possible. All extractions are preferrably performed under Local Anaesthetic. However if your situation warrants the need for General Anaesthetic, we will be more than happy to give you a referral. Our Lasers can be used for disinfection of extraction wounds, controlling bleeding and more. |

| X-RAYS |
|
We have two types of x-rays available for your convenience both are comfortable and safe, they give our dentist information that he is unable to deduce with the naked eye. All our x-rays are digital, ensuring less radiation. We have both intra-oral and extra-oral x-rays.
Intra-oral X-Ray This type of X-ray creates close ups of single teeth, this enables the dentist to see cavities not easily visible to the naked eye.

Panoramic X-Ray This produces an image of both upper and lower teeth as well as the jaw, all in the one scan. This is very useful in more complex cases to determine a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.

Please also see our recommended dental products in the PRODUCTS page.
Here at M Dental we believe in Preventative Dentistry. This is a life-long process that aims to reduce the required restorations in your lifetime. Preventative Dentistry allows you to keep your smile healthy and beautiful. It allows you to maintain the optimum health of your teeth and gums.
Preventative care is of great benefit to patients of all ages and should begin as early as possible. It is never too late or too early in life to begin a good dental hygiene routine. Below are some handy tips:
- Brush your teeth at least twice per day (best to be done after breakfast and after dinner). Floss at least once per day. For some patients, this is recommended twice per day. When flossing, ease the floss gently between the two teeth and use the floss to gently "scrape" at the sides of each tooth to remove any bacteria or plaque.
- Brush with a soft round bristle toothbrush
- Place your toothbrush at the gum-line, this is where the gum meets the tooth, at a 45 degree angle (allowing you to clean under the gum line). Bacteria accumulate quite rapidly along the tooth at the gum line, so it is essential to focus on this area.
- Brush your gums very gently. The recommended brushing motion is a circular massaging technique along the gum-line and gently around each individual tooth. It is essential not to brush too vigorously as this form of intense brushing can injure your gums and teeth over time.
- Use a tongue scraper to clean your tongue which will remove additional bacteria and freshen your breath. Pay special attention to the back of your tongue, bacteria tends to accumulate here the most. A clean tongue should be a healthy pink colour.
- Replace your toothbrush every three to four months.
- Use toothpaste with fluoride for cavity protection.
- Regularly see your dentist for examinations and teeth cleaning.
- If you suspect you have a problem (sudden sensitivity of a tooth, pain in the jaw/teeth etc) or have recently lost a piece of tooth or filling due to trauma or simply by eating, see your dentist immediately. Don't wait until the problems becomes unbearable.
For more brushing personalized hygiene tips, please see our dentist for a regular check-up. |
